BBC reported today on a very interesting article that looks into how female monkeys in Thailand tech their young. Teaching techniques on using tools properly has always been an activity carried out only by humans, Professor Nobuo Masataka of Kyoto University told the AFP news agency.

However these female monkeys have been observed flossing their teeth using human hair in the same way that we humans floss our own teeth. furthermore, researches from Japan also noticed that the mothers spend double the amount of time flossing when they were being watched by their infants. This suggests that they were deliberately teaching their young how to floss.

[link]

WOW.. This is really cool. monkeys can teach their young how to do things. What is even cooler is that they FLOSS. I mean how many humans floss?????

i mean honestly what happened to the ebay i knew and loved. the one where i could go and find other people, i mean real people setting stuff. the goals that the ebay founder had in mind in creating ebay has completely been lost in the corporate monster it has become.

it’s rising listing fees along with all the other hundreds of fees that exists make it so complicated and unpractical to use for the average joe who is trying to sell something thats been gathering dust in his garage.

i know the few times i’ve tried to sell something i’ve gotten so frustrated that i just exited the process half way through.

all i find when i go to ebay anymore is lots and lots of “super sellers” and stores and estate sales by auction houses etc… and a few individual users scattered far and wide. i mean seriously. its proabably easier to spot a star in the sky from times square in new york than it is to find an individual seller on ebay anymore.

ebay has turned into this huge online mall and quite frankly i don’t know if i like it anymore. i’m sure its not just me and that there are lots of people out there who think the same.

this blog has been adeptly name the curious monkey. i’m a very curious fellow and i hope that wont change as a grow older and as some people say grow wiser.

growing old. that’s a very interesting topic. everyone makes such a big deal about it. we plan parties, we bitch and complain about it. we track every day of it. we spend soo much time complaining and tracking it that we sometimes lose the beauty of living life. enjoying each passing day and living life.

to that end i came across this phrase today and am absolutely in love with it. i don’t know who first coined it but here it is.

How old would you be if you didn’t know how old you are?

lets think about this for a bit. what if we did not have calenders and birthdays but just lived life. just lived each moment for just that. a moment to be enjoyed and lived. i think we would all be very much more happier.

what do you think?
